Hong Kong Key Research Project Sense of Belonging Social Attitudes Subjective Well-being Taiwan
Objective
• To study and compare social trends and changes in Hong Kong and Taiwan

Methodology
A telephone opinion survey is conducted simultaneously in Hong Kong and Taiwan once or twice a year using a common questionnaire to gauge the perceptions, values, and subjective well-being of the people of both societies. The core questions of the questionnaire are kept unchanged as far as possible to facilitate the detection of social trends and changes, while questions on special topics are flexible enough to reflect changes in social conditions.
The 11th survey, which focused on subjective well-being, socio-political trust, and social problems, was carried out in December 2009.
The 12th survey, which focused on subjective well-being, socio-political trust, and social problems, was carried out in December 2010.
The 13th survey, which focused on subjective well-being, sociopolitical trust, and social problems, was carried out in December 2011.
The 14th survey was carried out in December 2012.
The 15th survey, which focused on subjective well-being, sociopolitical trust, and social problems, was carried out in December 2013.
The 16th survey, which focused on food safety, student movements, and environmental risks, was carried out in December 2014.
The 17th survey, which focused on youth, the Individual Visiting Scheme, and the relationship with mainland China, was carried out from December 2015 to January 2016.
The 18th survey, which focused on political trust, attitudes towards the “Occupy Movement”, the relationship with mainland China, and the sense of belonging to Hong Kong, was carried out in December 2016.
The 19th survey, which focused on political trust, attitudes towards the “Occupy Movement”, the relationship with mainland China, and the sense of belonging to Hong Kong, was conducted in November 2017.
The 20th survey was conducted in November 2018.

The fourth book titled Interpreting the Social Ethos of Taiwan and Hong Kong (《解讀臺港社會意向》) (details here) was published in February 2011.
A book titled Near Neighbours: Issues in Taiwan and Hong Kong Societies (《一衣帶水:台港社會議題縱橫》) (details here) was published in 2014.
A book titled Youth and Social Change in Taiwan and Hong Kong (《台灣與香港的青年與社會變貌》) (details here) was published in June 2016.
The sixth conference on the social image of Taiwan and Hong Kong was held on 12-13 April 2013 at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. A total of 13 presentations were made at the conference.
The seventh conference on the social image of Taiwan and Hong Kong was held on 1–2 May 2015 at the Academia Sinica, Taipei.
The eighth conference on the social image of Taiwan and Hong Kong (2017台灣-香港社會學與社會意向研討會) (details here) was held on 4 November 2017 in Hong Kong. Ten research papers were presented.
The ninth conference on the social image of Taiwan and Hong Kong was held on 30 and 31 May 2019 in Taipei.
