Hillside Escalator Hong Kong Social History Streets 

Objective
• To examine the social history of Hong Kong through people and places near the Central to Mid-Levels Escalator

Research team

Public engagements
A public lecture series titled Lecture Series on “Hillside Escalator into the Skies”(「半山電梯青雲路」講座系列) (details here) was held at the Hong Kong Museum of History in December 2018. A total of 12 case studies on important people and places near the Central to Mid-Levels Escalator were presented at the lectures through perspectives on the social history of Hong Kong.

Methodology
Qualitative research was conducted on historical archives, newspapers, and secondary texts.

Related Publication
An edited book on the proceedings, titled The hillside escalator: Reaching to the skies (《半山電梯:扶搖直上青雲路》) (details here) , was published in July 2019.
