District Council Election Hong Kong
Background
The fourth District Council ordinary election was held on 6 November 2011. Starting from the 2012 Legislative Council election, the candidates for the new District Council (Second) Functional Constituency (DCFC) election had been limited to elected District Council members nominated by elected District Council members. The 2011 District Council election was thus regarded as a new battlefield for Legislative Council seats.
Objective
• To study the patterns of voting and non-voting behaviour, the different orientations among the electorate in their choice of candidates, and the impact of the DCFC election method on voting behaviour
Methodology
A total of three territory-wide telephone opinion surveys were conducted before and after the election.
